Every week, we’re catching up with Dylan Fuller – one of the organisers of the perennially successful Wandsworth Beer Festival – so he can fill us in on some of the most important things to keep in mind when organising an event of your own.

This week, Dylan covers customer relations, keeping your guests happy and making sure they feel valued and part of something exciting.

Dylan’s Top Tips

1 - Be responsive to attendees who ask questions over email.

Your attendees are the lifeblood of your event, so don’t make them feel as if they’re low priority. Furthermore, these questions can be a great source of insights for added dimensions to your event. Using the example of the Wandsworth Beer Festival as an example, we had a raft of emails asking if we would have wine tasting on the night. We added this as to the festival and reached a whole new market we wouldn’t normally have attracted.

2 - Make sure the right info is on your event page on Eventbrite, even though you may have already listed this info on your own website.

It never hurts to repeat important information. Make life as easy as possible for your attendees so that anyone who isn’t certain about coming isn’t put off by a laborious ticketing process.

3 - Never stop innovating.

You want your guests to feel as if they are part of something special. If they think ‘this is just the same as last year’ they may seek to find alternate events. Make sure every year is different from the last, evolve your events and add little bits of the unexpected.
